Karen and John Bryan – University City, Thursdays @ 7 PM
Karen and John have attended FCC since 2005. Karen teaches fifth grade at Spreckels Elementary School in University City, about four blocks from home. John is a business consultant, entrepreneur, mentor to entrepreneurs, and adjunct professor at the College of Doctoral Studies at Grand Canyon University. John is also Chair of the Board of Alliance for African Assistance and Alliance Health Clinic and mentors leaders in countries emerging from conflict. Karen is an avid reader and student of theology. John enjoys visiting with friends from childhood and has been known to sing a little, in church and with a garage cover band. Karen and John have no biological children, but many who call them mom and dad. They also have a cat.
Ken and Judy Calvert – Solana Beach, Thursdays @ 7 PM
Ken and Judy joined the FCC family in 2005 where Ken serves as Administrative Pastor. Ken currently leads Men in the Morning, Sweat Equity, and the North County Life Group. Judy owns a graphic design and printing business, and provides the signs and banners on our campus. She co-leads the North County Life Group with Ken, and serves on the Hospitality Team. Ken enjoys reading, teaching environmental health at SDSU, and driving the office staff crazy with oddball gee-whiz facts. Judy enjoys cooking and creating original recipes, and photography. Together they share a passion for mystery novels and traveling in their motorhome, biking, and home improvement projects. Ken and Judy have two grandsons, Ian and Ryan, who bring, laughter, blessing, and joy to their lives.
Stan Donn – University Heights, Thursdays @ 7 PM (come at 6:45 PM if you want!)
Stan is a City Planner for Chula Vista. He has been a member of FCC since 2005, serves on the prayer and SOZO ministry team, and is part of a men's prayer team. He regularly plays volleyball and surfs, travels twice a year internationally on short term-missions trips to places like Brazil, Europe, Africa to share the love of Jesus through healing prayer and evangelism.
Omana Kaliangara, Jim and Virginia George, Serra Mesa, Tuesdays @ 7 PM
Omana has been a member of FCC since 2005. She works as a Nurse Practitioner caring for patients and she is passionate about caring for the whole person- spirit, soul and body. She enjoys reading, hiking, movies, music, plays, spending time with friends as well travelling - both international and local. Omana has a interest for missions and enjoys learning about various cultures. She is loves loves try different kinds of food and has a special taste for spicy food.
Jim and Virginia have been a part of FCC since 2013. We recently moved back to San Diego in 2012 to be closer to our children and grandchildren. We are both semi-retired - Jim from Boeing and Virginia from Ingram Micro in Orange County. Both Jim and Virginia enjoys watching movies, exercising, walking, hiking and exploring what San Diego has to offer. But what we most like is spending time with our family and friends. Virginia loves to dance and Jim prefers to watch from the sidelines.
Rose and Chris Males, Mission Valley, Thursdays @ 7 PM
Rose and Chris are Australians who have recently moved to San Diego and have been worshiping with FCC since February 2014. Rose is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at Bethel Seminary, while Chris continues to run his Australian based Corporate Wellness business remotely from San Diego. Chris is passionate about golf, health and fitness, and basically anything that can allow him to get outdoors and enjoy nature. Rose loves yoga, running with her dog Koby, a glass of red wine and a good movie.
Robert has attended FCC since 2008. Robert is a Naval Officer and loves cheering for the California Golden Bears. He enjoys reading, movies, swimming and camping. Robert likes to play board games and hosts a regular game night for friends from FCC. His daughter Isabella is in 1st grade and loves trips to the zoo with her dad.
Randy and Gay Salo, Sierra Mesa, Sundays @ 5 PM
Randy and Gay have been active at FCC for over 9 years and lived in San Diego community 19 years, after having relocated from Oregon. Oregon is nice, but each visit reminds them of what a blessing it is to live in San Diego. They have been married for over 30 years, and have two teenagers, Kendra and Peter. Randy is a full-time freelance software developer and enjoys a multitude of different outdoor activities (hiking, biking, etc.) and sometimes likes meeting up with Gay on the golf course. Gay teaches Sunday School, volunteers at school and finds both enjoyment & frustration by taking on various home improvement projects. Randy and Gay have hosted Bible studies from their home before, but this season will host on the FCC campus, to coincide with IGNITE youth group, on Wednesdays from 6-8 pm.
Kelly and Doug Schauer, Clairemont, Wednesdays @ 7 PM
Doug and Kelly have attended FCC since 2006. Doug grew up in Colombia, South America and now works at Sony in Logistics. Kelly grew up in town (San Diego & then Orange County) and now is an E.R. Nurse Practitioner at Naval Balboa Hospital. They met whilst attending Wheaton College in Chicago and moved to San Diego in 1999 when Doug started grad school at UCSD. Doug is an avid surfer and enjoys building houses in Mexico with Homes of Hope and walking with Kelly and their dogs. Kelly is an avid reader and enjoys baking, walking, and surfing with the family. Doug & Kelly have two children in high school, Joelle (16) and Ethan(14).
Jenny and Chris Soderlund, Clairemont, Thursdays @ 6.30 PM
Chris and Jenny have attended FCC since 2005. Chris works for SDG&E as a senior energy administrator. He enjoys reading, especially historical mysteries, exercising, swimming, music, and traveling to relaxing locations. Jenny enjoys her work as a nurse, but delights in cooking, gardening, and Jane Austen movies. They have a grown daughter who is in college.
Mike and Lisa Telfer, Rancho Penesquitos, Thursdays @ 5:30 PM
(Childcare provided, we start with dinner @ 5:30 PM/Bible study begins @ 6 PM)
Mike and Lisa have been a part of FCC since 2005. Lisa spends most of her days caring for their two young kids but also works as an operating room nurse part time (which often seems like a break from the aforementioned two young kids). She plays piano, enjoys taking photos, sees how many calories she can burn in spin classes at the Y, and cooks tasty meals with fresh vegetables but would usually rather eat out. At work Mike manages a dozen talented engineers and designers who are developing the next generation of combustion systems for gas turbine engines. At home when he's not hanging out with his kids he's usually dreaming about plants to add to their yard, taking care of plants he added to their yard, reading, playing guitar, or working on his public speaking skills
