In the opening verses of Romans 8, God reveals that freedom from these “bad tapes” is possible through Jesus Christ: “for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death.” In the New Testament the word, “free” never refers to political freedom or the freedom to do whatever we want with our lives. True freedom, in the New Testament, is to live in harmony with the life God purposed us to enjoy before Him and with others that is not constrained by sin, dread, intimidation, or powerlessness.
How does this occur? What are the benefits this freedom brings? These are some of the themes we will be reflecting on this week.
