Whether over-employed, unemployed, or underemployed, people become identified with their careers or jobs. It is not our willingness to work that is different today but what we want out of a job or career. In an Identity Culture we seek a whole new set of meanings and satisfactions from our jobs: they must be meaningful, appropriate to our talents, facilitating to personal self-development, continuously challenging, and adequately remunerated. It is not surprising that even Christians have trouble saying, “My work is satisfying and meaningful.”
Now more than ever, discovering God’s design for work in the Scriptures is essential so our relationship with Christ might have unity and consistency between “Sunday” and “Monday”. .. Let’s begin the discussion this week!
