Money is god for many people. It is taken for granted that we should get as rich as we can and it is assumed that the more we have the happier we shall be. An improved standard of living is the goal of Democrat and Republican alike just as it is for governments and people around the world. In contrast with this, the Jesus we follow is remarkably unconcerned with the acquisition of wealth. There is no doctrinaire opposition to money in Jesus of Nazareth but no slavery to it either. In short, there is nothing wrong with money— but there is a great deal wrong with the love of money.
What should be our attitude toward money as followers of Jesus Christ?
